Identifying Hidden Wealth - 9th November 2027
Date: 9th November 2027
Time: 2.00pm-3.30pm UK / 9.00am-10.30pm EST
Duration: 1hr 30min (60min content + 30min Q&A)
Format: Live Online
Course Type: Focus
For: Researchers, Fundraisers, Directors - UK, US, International
Overview
Some of your most capable prospects won’t appear on any rich list. Their wealth sits in private companies that file minimal accounts, in holding companies, partnerships and funds, in property and family assets, or in a share sale that never made the headlines. On paper they can look modest. In reality they may be among the most significant supporters you could have.
This session shows you where hidden wealth lives, the signals that point to it, and the practical techniques that turn limited public information into a credible view of capacity.
What The Session Will Cover
Why Wealth Stays Hidden
Why the most valuable wealth is often the least visible. We look at how private ownership, limited disclosure rules, complex structures and personal choice keep wealth out of sight, and the common assumptions that lead teams to overlook strong prospects.
Private Companies & Small Accounts
Why you shouldn’t dismiss small, loss-making or no-turnover companies. We cover what micro and small company accounts leave out, how to estimate dividends from movements in retained profits, and how to judge what a private business might really be worth.
Holding Companies, Partnerships & Funds
Following wealth through layers of ownership. We explain why holding companies often show zero turnover, how to trace the true owner, how profit is shared in LLPs, and how fund managers build wealth through bonuses and carried interest.
Exits, Share Sales & Liquidity Events
Spotting the moments when hidden wealth becomes cash. We look at the signs a sale may be coming, how to identify completed deals and private equity buyouts, and why the period after an exit can be one of the best times to ask.
Beyond the Business
Other places wealth hides: property portfolios, inherited and family wealth, trusts and private foundations, angel investing, and assets held overseas or through offshore structures. We cover what can be found, what usually can’t, and the clues that suggest something more is there.
Where to Find the Evidence
The sources that reveal what the headlines miss, including company registries and filing histories, beneficial ownership registers, charity and foundation records, deal and funding databases, and land registry data. We also look at how to combine weak signals into a confident, well-evidenced estimate.
Ask Strategy
How to turn hidden-wealth research into action: prioritising prospects who look modest on paper, recording wealth creation moments in your CRM, separating liquid from illiquid capacity, and choosing giving vehicles that suit asset-based wealth.
