Mike Sawkins

Mike obtained a degree in Natural Sciences from The University of Cambridge, followed by a PhD in Regenerative Medicine from The University of Nottingham.  He spent time in academia in both the UK and Ireland before deciding he would rather put his skills to use in the charity sector.

He has experience across major fundraising disciplines, including corporate, community, events and individual giving, but is now firmly established as a specialist in trust fundraising.  He also spends a lot of time on analysis and evaluation of both fundraising and charity services serving as Trust & Insight Manager at Cavendish Cancer Care.  He brings a rigorous and highly analytical perspective to his work thanks to his unique academic background and training.

Mike has helped charities both large and small to secure grants from £100 to over £100,000 and from the full range of trusts and foundations – small, local family trusts right up to very large national funders, such as Children in Need and the National Lottery Community Fund. He also sits on the board of The Talbot Trusts, so he knows first-hand what funders are looking for in an application.
